In Sweden, it has been a tradition that The Village Council meet and discuss common topics about the village. Traditionally, the men have been working with land issues and actively participating in the Council, while the women have focused on cultural issues. However, today there are as many women as men in The Village Council, reflecting the current picture of society.

The Tallberg Village Council works together with Leksand’s municipality with issues of upkeep and development of the village’s infrastructure, the village hall, the beach and camping ground, as well as any other village property. The Council board members meet once a month and have a village meeting for all inhabitants twice a year. These two meetings allow the villagers to affect what is happening in the village as well as elect new board members each spring.
